Ben-Gvir was in the town of Ramle, near Tel Aviv, visiting the scene of what police said was an alleged stabbing attack.

Israel’s security minister, controversial far-right politician Itamar Ben-Gvir, was taken to hospital with minor injuries after a car accident, police said.

A video on social media showed that the car Ben-Gvir was traveling in had overturned.

Police said they were investigating the circumstances of the accident and that Ben-Gvir’s daughter, a security guard and a driver were also injured.

His office said the minister was in “good condition” after the accident.

Hebrew media broadcast images of a black car overturned on the road and cited a witness who said the car had run a red light.

Ben-Gvir was in the town of Ramle, near Tel Aviv, visiting the scene of what police said was an alleged stabbing attack.

Central District Police Chief Avi Biton said a 21-year-old man, who was allegedly mentally unstable, had stabbed a 19-year-old woman.

He added that the suspect was trying to flee the scene when a civilian shot him and “neutralized” him.

Israel’s ambulance service said the woman was conscious but in serious condition and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Ben-Gvir is a controversial member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s emergency government.

He has a history of convictions related to support for terrorism and anti-Arab rhetoric.
