Namibia sports calendar – Sports

A great sports weekend awaits us: football, rugby, athletics, cycling, boxing and tennis among other activities.

The Debmarine Namibia Premiership finally comes to an end with the final round on Saturday. The African Stars, who have already begun their victory celebrations, take on the struggling Orlando Pirates in the weekend’s key match at the Independence Stadium in Windhoeks.

The Rugby Premier League continues with the derby between Trustco United and FNB Wanderers taking center stage at Trustco United Park, while the two teams will also clash in several other sporting codes including women’s rugby, cricket, netball and Knobel .

The Namibian National Athletics Championships are taking place at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek with Christine Mboma the star attraction in the women’s 200 metres, while several other athletes will also attempt to meet the qualification standards for the African Championships and the Olympic Games.

The Nedbank XCO MTB National Championship takes place at IJG Trails in Farm Windhoek, while the FNB Women’s Super League continues at the NFA Center in Katutura.

There’s also tennis with the ITF J30 Junior tournament finals taking place on the central tennis courts while the Dr Hage Geingob Tribute Boxing Bonanza will take place at the Ramatex Hall on Saturday night with Energy Nghitumbwa competing against Wang Dekang of China in the main bout.
