Apple enthusiasts, mark your calendars! The Cupertino-based tech giant just announced a special virtual event scheduled for May 7, giving us a sneak peek of what’s to come ahead of the much-anticipated Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

Apple will, in all likelihood, launch the new series of iPads, along with some compatible accessories.

The event, which will begin at 7:00 am PT or 7:30 pm IST, will be streamed live on Apple’s website and the Apple TV app. While Apple is staying mum on details, a teaser image showing an Apple Pencil amid a vibrant Apple logo suggests a focus on the iPad lineup.

There has been a lot of speculation about updates to the iPad Pro and iPad Air, with rumors pointing to the inclusion of M3 and M2 chips, respectively. The iPad Pro could also see the introduction of OLED displays, while a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air could join the list.

For the record, Apple hasn’t updated its iPad lineup in almost a year and a half.

Reports also hint at the introduction of a new Magic Keyboard designed for the new iPad Pro, along with a revamped Apple Pencil, potentially integrating features like Find My and interchangeable tips for various writing experiences.

Unlike traditional in-person events, Apple’s May 7 meeting will be completely virtual, mirroring the format of last October’s “Scary Fast” event. Attendees can expect to tune in online, as invitations to physical locations have not been extended.

There’s a lot of excitement surrounding speculated improvements to the Apple Pencil, including the possibility of a “Squeeze” gesture feature. Additionally, rumors of an expanded iPad Pro lineup with OLED displays and slimmer designs, as well as a surprising inclusion of a 12.9-inch iPad Air with a mini-LED display, have sparked interest among tech enthusiasts. .

Additionally, there are rumors surrounding the early release of an updated Magic Keyboard, which promises a beefier frame made of aluminum and aims to improve the functionality of the iPad Pro, which could blur the line between tablet and laptop.

With more than two years since the last iPad Air update and almost 18 months since the debut of the M2-powered iPad Pro, anticipation for Apple’s latest innovations is high.
