When it comes to big players who play with energy and a high motor, Hukporti embodies that archetype. He is a good rim runner and a phenomenal blocker who improves pick-and-roll situations. That in itself is a micro skill that will translate to the NBA level, especially considering how the game is played.

Hukporti is also a quality threat and a mobile prospect for his size, which he often shows in transition. He has great vertical pop and is a quality athlete at the center position. He doesn’t have the best overall offensive package today, but he can generate points in pinch situations.

While he could theoretically end up being a starting center one day, it’s more likely that he ends up being a big, situational backup player who provides very specific tools for his team. It’s easy to see his game translating into an impactful backup piece, especially given the role he’s played to date.

Hukporti is a solid rebounder, especially with his advantage on the offensive glass. He is the type of player who can generate searches for second chances for himself and others.

The defensive side of the ball is where Hukporti’s game is most interesting. He is a good shot blocker who also defends well in a variety of situations. It seems like his success at the next level will depend on what he can do on that end. He still has room to improve, especially when it comes to adapting to the NBA style of play, but if he can become a more disciplined defender, he should be effective.

Hukporti has been part of the NBL Next Stars program and previously played professionally in his home country of Germany, giving him significant experience against strong competition. He is an older prospect who has a history of injuries that may have hindered his development, but he would be worth picking up late in the draft.

Possible second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
