Uganda’s Nigo wins 1 gold and 2 silvers at Para Powerlifting World Cup Pattaya 2024

The event is also a key qualifier for the Paris Paralympic Games (August 28 to September 8, 2024) in the city of Paris, France.

Ugandan para powerlifter Muhammad Nigo won three medals at the ongoing Para powerlifting world cup in Pattaya, Thailand.

Nigo obtained one gold medal and two silver medals in the different categories in which he participated for the legends category under the 80Kg cluster.

In the same weight group, Safalu Tamale finished fourth overall in the elite category.

The other athlete, Dennis Mbazira, will compete on Friday morning in the 88kg category.

Head coach Kenneth Ssekilanda is humbled by Uganda’s performance so far in the championship.

“So far so good. With three medals won, we are ready to start. Mbaziira (Dennis) competes on Friday in the 88 Kg category and we expect a good performance. “Tomorrow’s event is very important for us to determine qualification for the Paralympic Games in France.” comments Ssekiland.
