Forty-five Donegal sports clubs to benefit from €1.32 million fund

Forty-five Donegal clubs will receive €1,320,960 in equipment-only grants under the Sports Capital programme.

The funding was announced by Sports Minister Thomas Byrne.

Welcoming the allocation for Donegal clubs, Local Government Minister Charlie McConalogue said: “Donegal is a huge sporting county and I know this latest round of Government funding will be a huge help to all interested clubs.

“We are very fortunate to have so many well-run and organized sports clubs in our county. “It takes a lot of effort from those tasked with managing the clubs to keep them going, year after year.”

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine added: “I congratulate all the volunteers who do their bit for their local club and the work they do is something we should all appreciate and be grateful for. I thank my Cabinet colleague, Minister Thomas Byrne, for allocating a significant amount of funding for Donegal clubs and I have no doubt that each allocation will be welcomed and well spent. “It is important that the sports clubs that do so much good work in our communities have the support of the government.”
