Kenya and the Democratic Republic of the Congo remain key partners in the East African region

Kenya will continue to enhance closer and cordial working relations with the Democratic Republic of the Congo to strengthen the two countries’ relations based on values ​​of common destiny and shared prosperity, said First Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Mudavadi, who spoke in Kinshasa after meeting President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to improving trade and business relations, security and people-to-people connections.

“We want to assure the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo that trade and business between the two countries will grow and we reaffirm that Kenya respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of the Congo,” Mudavadi added.

Mudavadi assured the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo that Kenya will always work with them to ensure that there is peace and harmony in the East African region and Africa in general, saying that the future of economic growth of African countries largely depends of the peaceful environment cultivated by individual nations and by regions and the continent together.

He said Kenya appreciates President Tshisekedi’s intervention on the Kenya Airways incident and emphasized that the surrounding issues have been resolved amicably.
