The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated his commitment to implement his policies if elected President of Ghana in the upcoming elections.

He noted that the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills, former vice president of Jerry John Rawlings, successfully implemented his policies when he became president.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted the different roles of a vice president and a president, highlighting that the president’s initiatives take priority.

During a conversation with Africawatch Magazine, Dr. Bawumia expressed his intention to implement his policies for the benefit of the nation if elected President.

He also noted that the current conditions under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo should not be used as the sole basis for assessing his potential.

“Being loyal to a president and having your own vision are not mutually exclusive. Atta Mills was Rawlings’ vice president, but he was his own man as president,” GhOne TV reported on its X page, as seen by GhanaWeb.

Dr Bawumia is preparing to contest against John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and other candidates in the upcoming presidential election.

The general elections are scheduled for December 7, 2024.
