Players had some “mental challenges” – says Aboubakar Ouattara as Hearts end losing streak – Citi Sports Online

Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club have ended their winless streak in emphatic fashion and head coach Aboubakar Ouattara believes the team’s previous struggles were due to mental challenges his players had to face.

He said this in a post-match interview after Hearts beat Berekum Chelsea 3-0 at the Golden City Park in Berekum to end their poor run.

Hearts had lost five of six league games before the draw against Chelsea after making a good start to the second half of the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season.

Goals from Hamza Issah, Linda Mtange and Kassim Cisse sealed the big win over Chelsea led by former Hearts coach Samuel Boadu.

In his post-match interview, Ouattara attributed Heart’s stutter to the mental challenges his players had to face.

“I expected to win. It’s football; We can win 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 but we needed the points. I told you we had a mental problem. “We have some people who want to contaminate the minds of children… it was a psychological problem.”
