Manchester United talk to ‘sensible’ Thomas Tuchel who will ‘progress later this week’ – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are reportedly ready to step up contact with Thomas Tuchel as the search for Erik ten Hag’s replacement accelerates.

Following United’s miserable 4-0 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace on Monday night, there is now more pressure than ever on Ten Hag, whose place at Old Trafford is at stake.

The thrashing at the hands of Palace was United’s 13th Premier League defeat of the campaign. The Red Devils currently sit in eighth position in the top flight and face a tough battle to qualify for Europe, with games against Arsenal, Newcastle United and Brighton next on the agenda.

Unsurprisingly, links with potential successors to Ten Hag have intensified since the Selhurst Park attacks. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person conveyed that Tuchel is one of the favorites to take over the bench once the campaign concludes.

He is on the INEOS list alongside the likes of Gareth Southgate, Ruben Amorim and Graham Potter.

It was previously said that a section of United players would love to play for Tuchel and, despite top brass harboring some concerns about his abrasive nature, his winning record and tactical acumen make him a leading candidate.

Ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid in Spain, Tuchel added fuel to the fire when he admitted he would be very open to returning to England. Of course, he won the Champions League with Chelsea before being sacked in controversial circumstances by new Blues owner Todd Boehly.

According to talkSPORT’s Anil Kandola (via GIVEMESPORT), United are actually very interested in Tuchel and plan to accelerate talks with his team as early as this week.

Kandola explains: “I understand that contact between Manchester United and Thomas Tuchel will progress at the end of this week, before Bayern’s match against Wolfsburg.”

“On a personal level, I would love to see Tuchel join United.”

“A proven, no-nonsense winner. “It would be good to see him at Old Trafford.”

The reliable Ben Jacobs wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Tuchel would welcome an approach from United if they decide to part ways with Ten Hag.

Tuchel believes he has “unfinished business” in the Premier League. He also believes that United’s new sporting model will probably “adapt to his style and personality.”

United return to action this Sunday when they host Arsenal at the Theater of Dreams.
