New INEOS approach boosts Gareth Southgate’s chances of becoming Man United manager – Man United News And Transfer News

Gareth Southgate is leading England to this summer’s Euros under a lot of pressure, and fans and pundits alike are hoping he delivers after a long wait.

Anything short of lifting the trophy would be considered a failure for the manager, who has stars such as Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford and Bayern Munich talisman Harry Kane at his disposal.

However, even if he fails to take the Three Lions all the way, Man United can keep the doors open for him in his managerial role.

According to The Telegraph, INEOS will not prioritize a “proven trophy winner” should they decide to replace Erik ten Hag at the end of the season.

The Dutch coach, who moved to Old Trafford after a prolific spell at Ajax, has not had a satisfactory performance in Manchester and could see himself sacked in the coming weeks.

The report adds that United are “wary of prioritizing short-term gains and risking long-term pain in future management appointments.”

With United prepared not to judge their potential next manager solely on his trophy record, Southgate’s chances of becoming the club’s manager have increased.

The 53-year-old, who last managed at club level in 2009 at Middlesbrough, has earned plenty of praise for establishing a very positive culture at St George’s Park.

Considering how toxic the atmosphere is in the red half of Manchester, Southgate’s experience could certainly come in handy.

This approach also increases Graham Potter’s chances. The former Brighton and Hove Albion player is admired by many for implementing a consistent style of play at the Amex.

Interestingly, Dan Ashworth, favorite to become United’s sporting director, has worked with both managers.

Regardless of this supposed new approach, Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel is also still in the running.
