He later began talking about his family members in a way that made others uncomfortable.

It was at this meeting, which fell on the first anniversary of a relative’s death, that Cash took a taxi and traveled to Rossfield Avenue in Tallaght, south-west Dublin.

Her twin siblings, Chelsea and Christy, eight, slept in bed while their older sister, Lisa, 18, watched Netflix in another room.

While the taxi driver waited outside, the evil Cash unleashed horror in the early hours of September 4, 2022.

The deranged killer stabbed and slashed Lisa, who bravely fought for her life, 71 times in the face, neck, chest and limbs after she told him she had no money and he shouldn’t be in the house.

Little Christy suffered 107 sharp force injuries before being thrown out of the house’s first floor window, while her twin sister Chelsea was stabbed and slashed 65 times.

Cash then went back out and told the taxi driver to call 999, but when the Gardai Emergency Response Unit arrived, he threw a television from the upper deck before hanging up on his little brother, who appeared lifeless at the time. , out the window before dropping it to the ground. .

A source said: “Cash was at the meeting but no one there could have imagined what he was going to do.

“A video that appeared on social media that night showed him dancing and looking calm. In just a few hours, he had murdered his three brothers in the most brutal way.”

guilty plea

Cash pleaded guilty this week to all three murders and was sentenced to life behind bars.

We also learn that he is locked up in Mountjoy Prison, where he has been since he was arrested for the murders, and the only people who came to see him there were his legal team.

Prison sources say he remains secretive behind bars.

The 26-year-old was admitted for more than a year to the Mountjoy psychiatric medical unit, supervised by staff from the Central Mental Hospital.

Medical evaluations

He was medicated and evaluated by psychologists and psychiatrists.

He shared a landing with Stephen Silver, who was serving a capital murder sentence for shooting dead hero Garda detective Colm Horkan in June 2020, but they spent most days in the unit alone in their rooms.

A source said: “Cash and Silver would know each other because they were both being treated there at the same time. “They would have mixed up with each other at the Mountjoy landing.”

Isolated for your own safety

Then, a few months ago, Cash was transferred to the medical unit of what is known as the Progressive Unit, but he was deliberately kept away from the general prison population for his own safety.

The source added: “Andy Cash has been more or less on constant suicide watch since he got here and we continue to keep an eye on him. We believe that he remains a danger to himself.”

In a victim impact statement to the court on Tuesday, the victims’ mother, Margaret McDonagh, along with other family members, said: “It’s been two birthdays, two Christmases and two of every occasion we’ve had without them.

“We miss everything about them, hearing their voices, their laughter, the conversations we would have, the games we would play as a family, the hugs and kisses we will never receive from them again.”
