Brian Baloyi backs two big names for Kaizer Chiefs coach

The search for a new leader at Kaizer Chiefs continues, and legendary goalkeeper Brian Baloyi has stepped into the vacant coaching role, lending his support to two big names.

The Soweto giants are searching for a permanent head coach to fill the void left by the departure of Molefi Ntseki earlier this season. Ntseki’s tenure was cut short after a series of disappointing results left fans frustrated.

Tensions rose when some fans expressed their disapproval by throwing objects at the coach. Following Ntseki’s dismissal, the Chiefs brought in Cavin Johnson to take over the role on an interim basis after initially joining Amakhosi as Academy Director.

Chiefs’ search for a manager has been boosted by their inconsistent form, which left them eighth in the DStv Premiership standings after 27 matches.

Johnson has been in charge of 19 matches for the Naturena-based team in all competitions, winning six times, drawing five and losing eight times.

The Glamor Boys were also knocked out of the 2024 Nedbank Cup by a Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Milford FC, who won 5-4 on penalties two months ago. Additionally, they missed out on the MTN8 trophy and the Carling Knockout Cup and risk finishing the season outside the top eight.

In their recent league match, Chiefs drew 2-2 against TS Galaxy at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday night.

WHO ARE THE TWO SUGGESTED HEAD COACHES?

With Chiefs set to make changes to their coaching team for the 2024/25 campaign, retired goalkeeper Baloyi says Pitso Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi are the two coaches who could fit in perfectly.

“Looking at the Chiefs right now, I think when we include the players and the names that have been mentioned, will they work? “I don’t know,” Baloyi said. FARPost.

“The two people I will put on my list would be a Pitso (Mosimane), and if you can’t get Pitso, then go for Manqoba Mngqithi. If it’s not those two, I don’t see any local or even foreign coach in the country who is good enough to steer the ship.

“Unfortunately, we are going to have to leave the county, but I would say be careful if you go out, especially outside the mainland. If you go out, let it be someone who understands the African continent, someone who is working on the African continent.”

The former Chiefs goalkeeper added: “Again, if you go to Europe or South America, you will give that person the same amount of money that you don’t want to pay Pitso. Therefore, it will be an exercise in futility if you go to South America or Europe to look for a trainer because you will pay them the same amount as you could pay Pitso or very close to it.

“Now you bring in someone who doesn’t understand the culture because, again, that’s the most important thing. “Understand the culture of our country and not just football.”
