Authorities believe the three were shot in the head in a botched robbery by thieves who wanted replacement parts for their vehicle.

Callum’s girlfriend Emily Horwath paid tribute to her partner with a saved highlight on Instagram, including a saved voicemail he left her.

“Happy Tuesday! Good morning,” Callum said in the message.

“It’s 11:11 and I’m just thinking about you. I just wanted to send you a quick message and say hi, honey.

“I hope you are having a phenomenal start to your day. Today I feel a big smile on your face for some reason. I hope you are full of positivity and smiles.

“Greetings, darling. I miss you.”

Emily captioned the story: “I’ll be playing this over and over again.”

“That’s exactly what you were. “Positivity and smiles.”

Emily previously said Callum was “one of a kind”.

“My heart is shattered into a million pieces,” he said.

“I don’t have the words right now.

“I love you forever.”

“Beyond sad, the world has lost you too soon, Callum,” a friend said in an Instagram story shared by Emily.

“The world is cruel and unfair but you are not.

“Heaven has the best. We love you.”

Friends remembered the 33-year-old as “one of the most beautiful and loving souls.”

“This world lost one of its kindest, silliest, most genuine souls this week,” a friend said.

“Heaven welcomed the purest and kindest angel,” said another.

A friend of Jake’s paid tribute to the 30-year-old, saying: “It was an honor to have known you and worked with you.”

Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena offered her condolences to the men’s parents and said her office “expresses its solidarity with the families of the victims in the face of this tragic event and deeply regrets the outcome of the events.”

Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers said the identification of the bodies was “frankly horrendous news.”

“I think the hearts of the entire country go out to all their loved ones. “It has been an absolutely horrendous, absolutely horrendous experience and our thoughts are with all of them,” she said.

The brothers were in northern Mexico on a surfing vacation when they failed to check into pre-arranged accommodation near the city of Ensenada.

The family traveled to Baja California, in northern Mexico, and identified the bodies as those of the brothers.

Authorities found the remains in a remote 15-meter pit atop a cliff on the Baja California Peninsula on Mexico’s west coast on Saturday.

The thieves are believed to have killed the three men to steal their truck and then disposed of the bodies about 6 kilometers away.

Three suspects are detained in connection with the case.

One of the three has been accused of forced disappearance, equivalent to kidnapping.
