Orlando Pirates eyeing R7m injection

Orlando Pirates have reached another Nedbank Cup final where they will defend their crown against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The pirates go for the double-double

The Buccaneers have become cup specialists under José Riveiro. They have won back-to-back MTN8 crowns and are just one match away from achieving a double-double by taking Nedbank Cup glory in 2024. The Sea Robbers are also embroiled in a race to finish in the top two of the league, facing difficulties . competition from an impressive team from Stellenbosch.

Orlando Pirates are in shape at the right time

Pirates have relied heavily on the goalscoring form of Tshegofatso Mabasa and, to a lesser extent, Patrick Maswanganyi this season. Both were not on the scoreboard against Chippa, but that was not a problem for the Pirates. Kabelo Dlamini, another man who had a stellar season, scored a double and center back Tapelo Xoki also scored a goal. Mabasa has 13 league goals this season, with three goals and two assists in four Nedbank Cup appearances. To say he is the man of the hour is an understatement. Patrick Maswanganyi has played a stellar supporting role in the number 10 position, scoring five goals and providing five assists in the league. Three goals and three assists in four Nedbank Cup appearances make him arguably the best player in the tournament this season. The sunsets are the last barrier between them and the riches of Nedbank Cup glory. They will get R7 million if they win it.
