KAMPALA — Sudhir Ruparelia, the real estate tycoon of the evergreen city, has purchased Lotis Towers, a multi-million dollar building in Kampala.

The 14-storey luxury building located at Plot 16 MacKinnon Road, Nakasero, was sold to the city businessman through dfcu Bank. Sudhir has confirmed that he bought the building through shares.

“It is true that I bought it after an auction. The building has been on the market for a long time,” he told this website.

On May 2, 2024, Mr. Ruparelia informed the tenants about the new provisions.
“This serves to convey that the property at KCCA Total Property Registration Volume 40, Folio 23, Plot 16, Army Avenue, Nakasero, Kampala was sold at public auction by DFCU Bank Ltd through its auctioneers Jubilee Auctioneers to Dr .Sudhir Ruparelia and Jyotsna Ruparelia. ” their lawyers said in a notice to tenants, adding: –
“Therefore, all your dealings will be with the new landlord.”

The lawyers further instructed; –
“Accordingly, please ensure that you present all your current signed lease agreements with updated proof of payment to regularize the lease agreement with the new owners,” he added;-

“Furthermore, all rent and/or any arrears must be irrevocably paid to your new owners (to the Bank… (Cash payment is not permitted).”

The building was owned by real estate magnate Samuel Lotigo, who had problems with his creditors.

Lotis Towers is home to some of Kampala’s leading businesses including Cairo Bank, British American Tobacco-BAT and Judicial Service Commission-JSC.
