UPL: Dusan and Amaku win Best of March and April awards

Sports Club Villa coach Dusan Stojanovic and Maroons forward Fred Amaku were crowned the best coach and best player respectively for the two months of March and April combined.

The couple were awarded during Monday’s awards ceremony at the Kati Kati restaurant in Lugogo, Kampala.

Amaku won the award after scoring three goals and providing one assist in five games. He surpassed Shaban Muhammad (KCCA), who had the same statistics in four games, and Allan Okello (Vipers), who scored two goals and assisted once.

β€œI want to thank the organizers of the awards and then my colleagues because we have been working as a team. It has been hard work that has brought me here and, as a player, I have goals for this season; We still have games ahead of us and I will work to achieve them,” Amaku said.

For Villa coach Dusan, he led the Jogoos to two wins and two draws in the four matches, fending off competition from Hussein Mbalangu (NEC) and Muhammad Ssenfuma (Maroons).

β€œIt’s good to receive the award, although I think the organizers should have awarded the entire SC Villa team, not me as an individual, before the players who come out to play. But I am happy for the award and we are going to go game by game to try to achieve the season’s objectives in the remaining games.” The Serbian pointed out.

Mbalangu guided NEC to three wins and two losses in five outings, while Maroons’ Ssenfuma recorded two wins, one draw and two losses in the last two months.
