From opulent to scandalous, elegant to excessive, Monday night’s Met Gala red carpet promises to be equal parts star-studded and visually stunning. On the other hand, with Zendaya, Jennifer López, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth as co-chairs of the evening, how could we not?

This year’s dress code, “The Garden of Time,” is inspired by JG Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name, which fits nicely with the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s latest Costume Institute exhibition. Sleeping beauties: the awakening of fashionwhich opens to the public on Friday, May 10. The exhibition curated by Andrew Bolton highlights fragile pieces from the institute’s archives, all seen through a lens of nature.

With that in mind, fans of the style should expect to see a variety of interpretations, from floral to pastoral and everything in between, on the museum’s famous steps, which are expected to reflect both a floral motif and sustainable elements.
