Luis Suárez has already sent a message to Barcelona while Darwin Núñez takes drastic measures in Liverpool

There is never a dull moment with Darwin Núñez. Even when he’s not on the field, he has managed to grab the headlines.

The Uruguayan international is the talk of Liverpool fans today after he seemingly deleted almost all traces of the Reds from his Instagram account. Only one photo remains of him at the club’s training ground, although his bio still includes Liverpool, while his profile photo shows him in action for the Reds.

The drastic measure comes amid doubts about his future at Anfield. Núñez has not scored a goal in his last eight games and has fallen behind Cody Gakpo in the pecking order in recent games.

Despite being second in the club’s goals and assists this season, Liverpool fans have been frustrated by his wastefulness in front of goal. The situation has perhaps reached a boiling point amid his barren spell in recent weeks, particularly after he squandered a golden opportunity during the Merseyside derby defeat to Everton.

That has led to doubts being raised about his future ahead of the new era at Liverpool. Arne Slot will succeed Jürgen Klopp as manager this summer, and new sporting director Richard Hughes and FSG executive director of football Michael Edwards will have a lot to say about who comes and goes at Anfield.

New reports out of Spain suggest that Barcelona could be interested in the striker. Sport claims that Núñez is on the Catalan club’s radar as they look for a long-term heir to Robert Lewandowski.
