Detective Inspector Brett Ranford from WA Police’s Armadale District Office said police were investigating whether the matter was related to a Facebook Marketplace sale.

A woman, believed to be in her 20s, armed with a knife, first forced her way into the home after a brief conversation at the front door, police say.

Two men entered the home during the incident, one of them armed with what police believe is a pickaxe.

Paramedics attended the scene before taking the man to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

During the incident, a drone, which had been advertised for sale online, was allegedly stolen.

“We believe that the sale of an item through some type of social network such as Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree may have been an incentive used by the woman to enter. However, this is still being confirmed,” said Det. In sp. Ranford said.

Det. In sp. Ranford said the victims were shaken after the incident, but were not seriously injured.

“Fortunately, the wound is not significant and is being treated with sutures, however, the consequences of being in the throat could have been much more dire,” he said.

“We take these matters very seriously, everyone should feel safe in their home.”

The woman, believed to be the injured man’s partner and aged in her 50s, was also assaulted during the incident.

Police say he received a wound to the arm. She was also taken by ambulance to RPH.

Neighbor Peta Jones said she was left shaken after the victim came to her door crying and asking her to call an ambulance.

He said that in the 10 years he had lived in the cul-de-sac of Bremer Place he had never experienced so much fear or violence.

“I’m still in shock,” she said.

“I went there to see the man because he said he was bleeding and that he was bad.

“I could see he had a stab wound in his neck… he was starting to lose consciousness and said he was cold and dizzy.”

Jones said he was still in shock from the violent experience.

“I had to go out for a few hours and clear my head,” he said.

“Normally it’s quiet. We hear sirens from time to time but it is a fairly quiet street.

“This is the first time I’ve seen something like this. “I’ve been here for 10 years.”
