With dozens of acting credits and award nominations under her belt, Kate Hudson is ready to get her music career off the ground.

The “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” star, 45, was a guest on Thursday’s episode of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” and delved into why she’s ready to release her first album, “Glorious.”

“I love music. I’ve loved music my whole life. It was my first love and I’ve been writing music my whole life,” Hudson told Fallon, who was her “Almost Famous” co-star two decades ago. “And I thought it was something I’d just have to myself until, like, COVID. And then I thought, ‘I’ll regret not putting it out into the world.'”

The Oscar nominee then took the stage to make her television debut as a singer, performing her new song “Gonna Find Out” in a floor-length bohemian dress with a plunging neckline that looked like something out of “Almost Famous.” cupboard.

Kate Hudson explains why she ‘wasn’t ready’ to release her music until now

Hudson released her first single, “Talk About Love,” in January. Since then, she released “Love Forever” and “Gonna Find Out” ahead of her album’s debut on May 17.

There’s “a little bit of country in there,” as well as Americana and pop influences, he told Fallon. She also revealed that she and co-writers Linda Perry and Danny Fujikawa (Hudson’s fiancĂ©) ended up creating 26 songs in two weeks.

In an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” last month, Hudson said he had been writing songs “really poorly” for “my whole life,” but had started writing the songs for “Glorious” two years ago.

“I guess I wasn’t prepared for this until now,” she said. “I probably don’t care what people think anymore. It was never right, whether it was my own stuff or being afraid of ruining my film career; it just never felt right until now. I’m just doing it.”

It helps that she also has musical talent in her DNA, with Bill Hudson of The Hudson Brothers as her biological father.

“Those Hudson brothers are incredibly talented musicians and wonderful songwriters. My dad is a great songwriter,” he said.

The “Bride Wars” actor also opened up about how he was discouraged from entering the music business a decade ago.

“There was someone who told me, and it bothered me a little bit, when I was in my early thirties, and basically said to me, ‘It’s done, it’s over. You can’t, you’re too old,'” she said.

But he ended up ignoring that advice: “No, no one tells me what to do!”
