The politicians have had enough, now it’s the people’s turn –Otti

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said that the state under his leadership is the turn of the masses to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Otti, who made the statement while receiving a delegation of Course 17, Syndicate 2 of the National Institute of Security Studies, Abuja, at Government House Umuahia, said it was his mission to make the masses and not just a handful of privileged politicians, prove good governance.

He said that the politicians who have presided over the affairs of the State since the return of democracy in 1999 have helped themselves a lot with the common heritage.

The Governor told his audience that his recent decision to clear pension arrears owed to retirees since 2014 was a demonstration of his passion for the masses, who had been let down by the ruling elite.

He said: “Abia pensioners will never again be owed their pension.”

He added that he had also ordered that they be paid along with the workers on the 28th of each month, a directive, he said, that came into effect since April.

“It is the time of the people, politicians have helped each other a lot over the last 24 years,” Otti added.
