Former Cabinet Minister Robinson Githae presents 15 books

Former cabinet minister and Ndia MP Robinson Njeru Githae has unveiled 15 books of his authorship.

During the launch at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi, Githae said the event symbolized the realization of his childhood dream of becoming an author.

“It’s never too late to find peace by realizing your childhood dreams,” he said.

He said his dream was delayed due to his active career as a lawyer, politician, minister and ambassador.

All 15 books have the prefix “The Judgment” in each title.

They include The Trial of Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi, The Trial of the Mysterious Mugo wa Kibiru, The Trial of Tom Mboya, etc.

The books caught the attention of attendees and Githae said she would prefer to let readers discover them.

He revealed that he began working on the titles while he was still in active public life, but was only able to focus better on the project after he retired.

Court of Appeal Judge Mwaniki Gachoka, Githae’s mentor, emphasized the need for writers to tell Kenyan stories.

Former Principal Secretary of Home Affairs Karanja Kibicho has called on Kenyans to embrace the culture of reading African literature.

Githae said writing is a way to create jobs in the country.

He said his late sister, Professor Miceere Mugo, partly influenced his love of writing.

Mugo was a playwright, author, activist and poet.

She was a literary critic and professor of Literature, Creative Writing and Research Methods in the Department of African American Studies at Syracuse University, United States.

Mugo’s publications include six books, a play co-authored with Ngugi wa Thiong’o, and three monographs.

He also edited magazines and the Zimbabwe school curriculum.

The East African Standard listed her among the 100 most influential people in Kenya in 2002.

Githae was elected to represent the Ndia constituency in the National Assembly in 2002.

He served as an assistant minister in the ministries of Justice, Transport and Local Government before being appointed minister in the ministries of Finance and Nairobi Metropolitan.

Githae was subsequently appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta as Kenya’s ambassador to the United States on August 14, 2014.

He was later transferred to Vienna in May 2019, as Kenya’s ambassador to Austria.
