Expert reveals disturbing details in case of missing Perth brothers as frantic search continues in Mexico

Former FBI agent Phil Andrew has spoken of his concern for missing Perth brothers Jake and Callum Robinson, saying the fact that one of their phones was in the hands of a third party is cause for concern.

Fears are increasing for the two brothers, aged 30 and 33 respectively, and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, who disappeared while traveling through the Ensenada area, Baja California, in a Chevrolet Colorado ute.

“This additional information that his phone was in the hands of a third person raises concerns,” he said.

“They are in an area that is difficult to control and very remote, and there are reports of a higher level of crime there.”

Barr asked Andrew what the “most likely scenario” is for the missing trio.

“Given the amount of time, we have to assume that something has happened and, if it was an abduction, we may have already heard some type of demand or some type of information,” Andrew said, adding that arrests can lead to more information. .

“It will be helpful to have people who have a connection to this, including the three who have been arrested, but it could be helpful if there is some kind of attempt to file a lawsuit.

“I think it’s going to be very difficult for any type of rescue situation to be successful with so much publicity.

“It’s very difficult to do that and have a safe way to communicate with the kidnappers.”

Loved ones said the group had been surfing at K38, a well-known group of surf breaks in the area, but then failed to check into the Airbnb accommodation they had booked.

Callum, who lives with type 1 diabetes, also did not return to work this week in San Diego as planned.

Jake, a doctor, is believed to have traveled from Perth to join his brother, who lives in the United States, on the surfing adventure.

Her mother, Debra Robinson, has asked social media for information about the couple.

“Reach out to anyone who has seen my two children,” Robinson wrote.

“They haven’t contacted us since Saturday.

“Please contact me if you have seen them or know their whereabouts.”

“Really quite distressing”

WA Premier Roger Cook said the situation “must be very worrying for the families involved”.

“When we send our young men and women overseas to go on those adventure holidays, they carry an element of risk and that’s really quite distressing,” Cook added.

“I understand that one of the people has a medical condition that would need ongoing care.

“I share the concerns of all Western Australians in terms of their well-being.”

In 2015, WA surfers Adam Coleman and Dean Lucas were murdered, believed to have been shot dead by gang members in the volatile Sinaloa region of Mexico, before their van and their bodies were burned.
