More than 1,000 households in the Kibra constituency affected by Wednesday’s floods received food distributions from First Lady Rachel Ruto.

The natural calamities that have devastated parts of the country place a disproportionate burden on the most vulnerable members of society, particularly women and children.

The food donation exercise was a collaborative effort between the Office of the First Lady, the National Government and the Chandaria Foundation.

The First Lady further reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing food, clothing and shelter to Kenyans affected by the floods.

She was accompanied by Peninah Malonza, Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of CAO, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development; Njoroge Muchiri, Deputy Governor of Nairobi County; Esther Passaris, Women’s Representative, Nairobi County; and Davidson Ngibuini, MCA of the Woodley Kenyatta Golf Course Ward.

Ms Ruto also urged Kenyans to be compassionate towards their countrymen who may be affected by the continued rains and floods.
