Minister of Electricity says that ending blackouts is within our reach

JOHANNESBURG – Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa insists the country has taken a step forward to end blackouts.

He revealed that Eskom’s power availability factor reached 65.5 per cent for the first time since 2021.

Ramokgopa sees this as an important milestone in resolving the energy crisis in the country.

He says the return of units at several power stations is a welcome addition to generating capacity.

The minister says the country has overcome what he calls “peak blackouts.”

There have been no power outages for more than a month.
