Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp broke down in tears after a fan presented him with a painting ahead of his departure later this month.

The German manager is nearing the end of a nearly nine-year spell at Liverpool after revealing he was “running out of energy” in an emotional message to supporters announcing his departure.

In his explosive January statement, Klopp even shared the possibility of retiring from football management entirely, but said he needed more time before making a final decision.

Painter and Liverpool fan Abigail Rudkin, who specializes in football-related pieces, made a painting to commemorate his time as a manager.

He spent two months working on the piece, which includes the words “You’ll never walk alone” and “Danke Jurgen”, and visited Liverpool’s training ground on Thursday to present it to Klopp.

The Reds manager was overwhelmed and said: “I love it.” When I saw. That, he had tears in his eyes

‘I don’t have many skills but I see a talent when I find it. Abigail, you are obviously a real talent and I wish you all the best.

Klopp said he had informed the club of his decision to resign in November and revealed it while discussing transfer targets for next summer.

“When we sat down together to talk about possible signings, the upcoming summer camp and whether we could go anywhere, the thought came up: ‘I’m not sure I’m here anymore’ and that surprised me,” he said.

It will be a bittersweet end to his time with Liverpool, who will miss out on the Premier League title this season after a run of poor form in recent weeks.

However, Merseyside got the silverware earlier this year after a defeat. Chelsea to the Carabao Cup.

They will look to finish the season on a high starting with Tottenham’s visit this weekend.
