Police hunt gunmen who killed two off-duty officers in Trasacco


The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for two gunmen who allegedly shot and killed two off-duty police officers in East Trasacco in Accra today, Thursday, May 2.

In a post on their Facebook page Thursday night, police said the shooting occurred around 6:00 p.m.

“The Ghana Police Service is searching for two gunmen who shot dead two off-duty police officers sitting outside their private residence at Block Factory, East Trasacco, Accra, today, Thursday, May 2, 2024, around 6:00 pm.”

According to the police statement, the gunmen “did not take anything from the victims and fled on a motorcycle.”

The statement said: “An intelligence-led operation is currently underway to arrest the suspects.”

This occurs just three days after a Military officer was killed in Kasoa Millennium City in the Central Region over a land dispute. The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) say they are collaborating with the Ghana Police Service to investigate the tragic death of Private Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Danso Michael.

Meanwhile, one individual has been arrested in connection with the murder.

The suspect is currently in police custody and assisting the Ghana Police Service with their investigations.
