F1 news: Lewis Hamilton addresses Adrian Newey Ferrari rumors

Lewis Hamilton has addressed the possibility of Adrian Newey’s move to Ferrari, praising him as what would be an “incredible addition” to the team. His comments came in the context of Newey’s confirmed departure from Red Bull by 2025.

Adrian Newey confirmed his departure from Red Bull after the first quarter of 2025 earlier this week. Since the announcement, speculation about the future of the aero has increased dramatically. There have been rumors linking Newey to Aston Martin and Ferrari. However, there is also the possibility that Newey decides to retire.

Hamilton, who will leave Mercedes later this year for Ferrari, praised Newey’s decades-long track record in the sport. Known for his pioneering aerodynamic designs that have helped deliver 25 championships, Newey’s experience is seen by many, including Hamilton, as a critical element that could rejuvenate Ferrari, a team that last tasted championship glory in 2008.

When asked how eager he was for Newey to join Ferrari during the Miami Grand Prix press conference, Hamilton responded:

“A lot!

“Adrian has a great history and track record, and has done an incredible job throughout his career interacting with the teams and the knowledge he has.

“I think he would be an incredible addition.

“I think they have a great team, they are already making great progress and advances (their car is faster this year), but it would be a privilege to work with them.”

However, despite his enthusiasm, Hamilton remained tight-lipped about the details of any ongoing talks with Ferrari management.

“I mean, this is all a very private conversation. “If I had to make a list of people I would like to work with, he would absolutely be at the top.”
