Ruto to address nation on Friday

President William Ruto will address the nation on Friday at 1pm, House of Representatives Speaker Hussein Mohammed said on Thursday.

Mohammed, who made the announcement in X, did not give any details about the address.

However, the Head of State is expected to speak about the heavy rains that have killed at least 188 people since March and displaced hundreds of thousands.

The speech will come a day after Ruto chaired a second cabinet meeting to deliberate on additional measures to mitigate the devastating effects of floods, landslides and landslides across the country.

He chaired that meeting for the first time on Tuesday.

During Thursday’s meeting, the Cabinet was informed that the coastal region is likely to experience Cyclone Hidaya, which will bring heavy rain, large waves and strong winds that could affect marine activities in the Indian Ocean.

Noting that floods, landslides, landslides and other extreme weather conditions are a result of climate change, the Cabinet resolved that the government will henceforth mobilize the country to implement measures, programs and policies to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Cabinet was briefed on the weather forecast for the next three months, which shows that average to above average rainfall will continue in all parts of the country.
