Felix Owusu-Gyimah

Tears welled in the eyes of Nkwanta South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Felix Owusu-Gyimah, as he knelt to plead with chiefs in the area to give peace a chance.

The MCE, who is also president of the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), emphasized the importance of maintaining peace in the area.

According to him, the recent increase in violence in the township is delaying development, which has torn Nkwanta township apart.

Referring to the SOCO project, which aims to promote social cohesion and contribute to conflict prevention, he urged all stakeholders to come together and work towards peaceful coexistence.

The MCE highlighted the negative impact that the conflict and violence had brought to the development and progress of the area.

He stressed that without peace, the people of Nkwanta South will continue to suffer and will not be able to reach their full potential.

Owusu-Gyimah urged chiefs and community leaders to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal of peace and prosperity.

He said it was important for reconciliation to move forward as a united municipality.

For their part, the Adele Traditional Council, the Zongo community, Challa and Ntrubo Councils pledged their commitment to ensuring lasting peace and stability in the area to promote development.

The chiefs urged MUSEC to collaborate with them as they continue to engage their people in abandoning arms and dialogue to resolve the conflict and build a peaceful society.
