Prime Minister Abiy returns home after concluding IDA Summit in Nairobi –

Addis Ababa, April 29, 2024 (Adsis Walta) Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed concluded his participation in the IDA Summit and returned to Ethiopia.

Prime Minister Abiy participated in the International Development Association (IDA21) Heads of State Summit, which took place today in Nairobi, Kenya.

Addressing the Summit, the Prime Minister said Ethiopia has been harnessing its resilience in the face of a spectrum of challenges compounded by external forces, such as climate change, geopolitical tension and the rising global cost of living.

“The Ethiopian government has navigated structural macroeconomic reforms, amidst challenges that focus our attention on macrofinancial stability, productivity improvement and a favorable investment environment,” he said.

Led by the National Dialogue Commission, dialogue and reconciliation are fundamental to our aspirations for peace, the prime minister said.

With a focus on accessible education and youth empowerment, Abiy noted that Ethiopia aims to create more than 2 million new jobs, while prioritizing universal energy access, digital transformation and environmental management through initiatives such as the Green Legacy Initiative.
