Fuel tanker bursts into flames on Kumasi-Accra highway


On Monday, April 29, a fuel tanker exploded along the Kumasi-Accra highway.

Quickly responding to the emergency call, firefighters from Suhum Fire Station led by STNO II Darwah Prince Ofobi reached the scene.

The tanker truck involved was a Man Diesel fuel truck, with registration GS 5343-18.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, firefighters managed to contain the flames in a matter of minutes.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed on its Facebook page that no injuries were reported.

However, the cause of the explosion remains under investigation.

“The quick action taken by the crew prevented a potential catastrophic explosion, despite significant damage to the head of the tanker and its contents. “The quick response demonstrated the team’s commitment and courage in the face of adversity.”

Firefighters quickly arrived on scene and battled the flames, bringing the situation under control within minutes and completely extinguishing the fire shortly after. The cause of the fire remains under investigation as no injuries were reported.

Despite extensive damage to the head of the tanker and its contents, the crew’s quick action prevented a catastrophic explosion of the tanker, saving the entire mass and its contents.
